Asked Questions

Hello friends,

We were well underway with planning for the 16th annual MD5K when the COVID-19 restrictions changed everything. Instead of canceling the event, we decided to switch to a virtual 5k run/walk.

We’re still working out some of the logistics, but we’ll provide answers here as we know them. We’ll be updating this page and sending out email updates when important information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

If I already registered, how do to I switch to the virtual MD5K? (Updated 4/30)

Your entry will automatically be transferred to the virtual MD5K. You don’t need to re-register. All your information, including shirt size, will be transferred. Because we dropped the price, you also qualify for a refund. You’ll receive an email asking which of the two new price options you want. Then we’ll mail you a refund check for the difference. Checks are being mailed this week.

If I registered and don’t want to do the virtual option, can I get a refund instead? (Updated 4/30)

Yes. You’ll get an email asking if you want to switch to the virtual 5K or prefer a refund. If you select the refund, a refund check will be mailed to you. Checks are being mailed this week.

If I opted for a mail-out packet, when will I get it? (updated 5/9/20)

We mailed packets May 7 using USPS first class mail.  Most will receive them in 1-2 days.  If you have not gotten your packet by May 15, please contact our Race Director.

Do I have to do my virtual run/walk on Mother’s Day?

No, you can do it any day and time you choose. We are thinking most will want to do it on the Mother’s Day holiday weekend.  If you want to post photos or stories about your virtual MD5K on our Facebook or Instagram pages in time to qualify for the random prize drawings, you’ll need to do so by our prize drawing date of May 20.

Do we wear bib numbers for the virtual 5K?

We’ll include a bib number with your packet, but the bibs don’t have the usual chips attached to identify and time you. They are still fun to wear as photo props or display on the refrigerator.

You do! Because health and fitness are essential to your well-being, you are a beneficiary of this event. KC Express invests a portion of race fees in its ongoing programs to support women’s health. We also donate a portion of race fees nationally to the American Heart Association and locally to WIN for KC’s Camp WIN for Girls.
