Running and Walking with KC Express

Ever wondered about those crazy people who get up early to run and walk on Saturday mornings? Try it — you might like it!  Training with a group can be more rewarding and motivating than training alone. Our Saturday morning run and walk groups offer:

  • Step-by-step camaraderie — whether your goal is 5 miles or 26.2
  • New scenery — our routes change monthly
  • On-course support — water and energy drinks are provided
  • Coffee and chat after — we love to support our local bakeries and bagel shops!

Come, get fit (or fitter), and make friends who’ll last a lifetime!

2017 Women’s Training Team

Each year, Kansas City Express partners with Shawnee Mission Health for the Living In Vitality (LIV) Women’s Training Team.

This six-week outdoor series helps women and girls (ages 12+) of all ability levels prepare for the Kansas City Express Mother’s Day 5K in a comfortable, supportive, women-only environment. Each week you’ll get tips on relevant fitness topics and then join other women for a walk/run.  KC Express members lead groups of different paces, so you can build your fitness week by week.  Many new walkers and runners join us every year, and many others come back again and again for the fun, support, and fitness.

The 2017 Women’s Training Team meets:

Tuesdays, April 4 – May 9 from 6-7:30 p.m.
Shawnee Mission Medical Center
I-35 & 75th Street
$30/six sessions, including t-shirt and nightly gifts

New!  KCE Monday Speed-work Sessions

Come join to build endurance, improve pace and enhance running efficiency. We’ll alternate between hill repeats and track workouts.

Dates: Mondays, May 1 – September 25
Time: 6:00 pm
Place: (May 1) Harmon Park, 7727 Delmar, Prairie Village. Park at the pool lot. Later sessions will be held at Shawnee Mission East HS track.
Bring: your own fluids (water/Gatorade) and towel for those who sweat.
